Woman Arrested Over Alleged Murder of Boyfriend in Akwa Ibom as Police Recover Cash and Vehicle

Woman Arrested in Connection with Alleged Murder of Boyfriend in Akwa Ibom

A woman identified as Lorretta Anoh has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command over her alleged involvement in the death of her boyfriend, Chikoka Emeka Henry, whose body was discovered inside his residence at Osongama Estate, Uyo.

The incident, which has generated widespread public attention, is currently under investigation by the police, who say several pieces of evidence have been recovered as part of their ongoing inquiries.

According to police authorities, the victim, a 36-year-old man, was found dead in his apartment after concerns were raised over his sudden disappearance and inability to respond to calls.

Officers who visited the residence reportedly discovered his lifeless body with visible injuries believed to have been inflicted during a violent attack. The scene was secured, and the body was evacuated for an autopsy as investigators began gathering evidence.

As detectives reconstructed the victim’s final movements, they identified Lorretta Anoh as a person of interest. Investigators alleged that she was the last known visitor to the victim’s apartment before his death. She was subsequently arrested, and the police said further investigation led to the recovery of ₦2,943,250, which they believe belonged to the deceased.

Authorities also recovered the victim’s Mercedes-Benz 4Matic, which had been removed from the residence after the incident.

Police allege that the suspect had begun making arrangements to transfer ownership of the luxury vehicle into her own name before her arrest. Investigators say this discovery formed part of the evidence now being examined as the case progresses. The police have not released details suggesting a motive and say investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Given the seriousness of the allegations, the Commissioner of Police directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ikot Akpan Abia, for a more detailed investigation. The State CID is expected to conduct further interviews, analyse available evidence, and determine whether additional suspects were involved before legal proceedings continue.

Following the arrest, the police advised members of the public to be mindful of the relationships they keep and to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies. The Command also assured residents that everyone connected to the case would be investigated thoroughly and that justice would be pursued through the legal process.

While the arrest marks a significant development, police have emphasized that investigations are still ongoing. Additional forensic examinations and witness statements are expected to help establish exactly what happened before the case proceeds to court.

Under Nigerian law, the suspect remains presumed innocent unless and until found guilty by a competent court.
