Sowore Vows to Unseat Tinubu in 2027, Promises to Fix Nigeria’s Electricity Crisis

Sowore Declares Plan to Unseat Tinubu in 2027, Promises to Fix Nigeria’s Electricity and Security Challenges

Human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has reaffirmed his intention to contest in the 2027 Nigerian Presidential election, stating that he is determined to unseat current President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Sowore, who previously ran for president under the African Action Congress, said his ambition to lead the country remains strong as Nigeria continues to face economic and security challenges.

Speaking during a recent interview in Abuja, Sowore emphasized that solving Nigeria’s long-standing electricity problem would be one of the key priorities of his administration if elected.

According to Sowore, a stable and reliable electricity supply is critical to transforming Nigeria’s economy. He explained that improved power generation and distribution could help industries grow, encourage investment, and create employment opportunities for millions of Nigerians. He argued that once the power sector functions effectively, it could trigger a broader economic transformation that would benefit businesses and communities across the country.

Sowore also noted that improved economic conditions could indirectly help reduce insecurity by creating more opportunities for young people.

The activist stressed that his political engagement is not limited to election seasons. He said he has remained active in advocacy and public discourse even when elections are not approaching.

Sowore first gained national and international attention as the founder of Sahara Reporters, an online media platform known for investigative reporting and political commentary. Over the years, he has also been involved in several pro-democracy campaigns and protests focused on governance and accountability.

With the next presidential election still some time away, political analysts believe early declarations like this reflect the beginning of strategic positioning among politicians and political parties.

While several parties are expected to begin internal consultations in the coming years, Sowore’s statement signals that he intends to remain a key figure in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
