TikToker Mirabel in ICU as Ogun Police Confirm Investigation Into Alleged Sexual Assault

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that an investigation is ongoing following allegations of sexual assault made by a Nigerian TikTok user identified as Mirabel.

The case gained national attention after emotional videos circulated online, with social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM) amplifying the claims and calling for accountability. The situation quickly sparked widespread public reaction across platforms including TikTok and X.

Speaking on the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated that Mirabel is currently receiving medical treatment in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

According to him, her health condition remains the primary concern at this time. Investigators will obtain a detailed statement from her once she is medically stable and able to provide a comprehensive account of events.

Authorities clarified that she is not under arrest and voluntarily approached the police to report the alleged incident.

Police confirmed that the alleged assault reportedly occurred in Ogijo, a community under Ogun State jurisdiction. Although initial contact was made through another division, the case has since been properly documented and transferred to the appropriate division for further investigation.

Law enforcement officials have not disclosed details about suspects at this stage, stating that the matter remains under active investigation.

The incident has generated intense debate online. While many Nigerians have expressed sympathy and demanded swift justice, others have urged caution, emphasizing the importance of due process.

The Ogun State Police Command has advised the public to avoid speculation and allow investigators to gather evidence before drawing conclusions. Officials reiterated that if evidence supports the allegations, those responsible will be prosecuted in accordance with Nigerian law.

Conversely, authorities also noted that false reporting carries legal consequences under existing criminal statutes.

Further updates are expected once her health improves and investigators are able to obtain a full statement.
