Nnamdi Kanu Appeals Terrorism Conviction, Seeks Reversal

Nnamdi Kanu Files Appeal Against Terrorism Conviction

Detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has filed an appeal challenging his November 2025 conviction on terrorism-related charges. The notice of appeal, submitted to the Court of Appeal, argues that his trial was marred by fundamental legal errors and procedural irregularities.

Kanu was convicted on multiple counts, including terrorism offences, by the Federal High Court in Abuja and was sentenced to life imprisonment. In his appeal, he seeks to quash the convictions, overturn the sentences, and set aside the judgment of the trial court.

The appeal documents cite alleged miscarriages of justice during the trial, claiming that critical legal principles were not properly observed. According to legal analysts, the case raises important questions about trial procedures and the interpretation of terrorism-related legislation in Nigeria.

The Court of Appeal will now consider the notice and determine the schedule for hearing arguments. Until the appeal is resolved, the Federal High Court’s judgment remains in effect.
