Otti to Commission Road, Flag Off Hospital Project in Abia

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, is set to unveil key infrastructure and healthcare projects across the state as part of his administration’s development agenda.

Among the projects scheduled for commissioning is the newly completed Ovom Street Road in Aba, a major commercial hub in Abia. The road rehabilitation is aimed at improving traffic flow and boosting business activities in the city.

In addition to the road project, the governor will flag off the construction of a new general hospital in Ukwa East Local Government Area. The hospital project is expected to enhance access to healthcare services for residents in rural communities and surrounding areas.

The Ovom Street Road forms part of the state government’s broader urban renewal programme targeting deteriorating road networks in Aba and other major towns. Residents and business owners have long raised concerns over poor road conditions affecting transportation and commerce.

Officials say the rehabilitation of critical roads is intended to stimulate economic growth and improve ease of movement within the commercial city.

While the new hospital project in Ukwa East is designed to strengthen primary and secondary healthcare delivery in the area. Government sources indicate that the facility will provide essential medical services and reduce the need for residents to travel long distances for treatment.

Healthcare infrastructure upgrade has been identified as one of the administration’s priority sectors since Governor Otti assumed office.

As part of the scheduled activities, the governor will also commission the reconstruction of the Enyimba International Hotel in Aba. The renovation project is aimed at reviving the once-prominent hospitality facility to attract investors and visitors to the state.
