Kaduna Terrorists Demand ₦250m, 20 Motorcycles for 166 Abducted Worshippers

Terrorists Raise Ransom Demand to ₦250 Million, 20 Motorcycles for Abducted Kaduna Worshippers

Suspected terrorists holding 166 Christian worshippers abducted from Kurmin Wali community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have reportedly increased their ransom demand, insisting on ₦250 million and 20 motorcycles as conditions for the victims’ release.

The mass abduction occurred during coordinated attacks on churches in Kurmin Wali while worshippers were gathered for services. Gunmen stormed multiple church locations, firing shots to create panic before forcing worshippers into the surrounding bush.

Although some victims later escaped during the confusion, the majority, including women and children, were taken away by the attackers.

Community sources familiar with the negotiations say the abductors initially made demands related to motorcycles, allegedly claiming they lost some during recent military operations in the area. However, the situation has since escalated.

The terrorists are now said to be demanding:

- ₦250 million in cash, and

- 20 motorcycles,

- before they will consider releasing the remaining captives.

Local leaders say the kidnappers have made it clear that no serious negotiations will proceed unless these conditions are met.

The scale of the abduction has sparked fear and outrage across Kaduna State and beyond. Families of the abducted worshippers remain in distress, while community leaders have appealed for urgent intervention from both state and federal authorities.

Security agencies have confirmed awareness of the incident and say efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims. However, officials have remained cautious in releasing operational details, citing security reasons.

The Kurmin Wali abduction adds to growing concerns about mass kidnappings in northern Nigeria, particularly targeting rural communities and religious gatherings. Analysts say the increasing ransom demands reflect the boldness of armed groups operating in forested areas.

Residents fear that prolonged negotiations could endanger the lives of the captives, while paying large ransoms could further embolden criminal networks.

As of the time of this report:

- The abducted worshippers remain in captivity

- Negotiations are reportedly ongoing through intermediaries

- No official payment has been confirmed

- Security operations continue in the area

Authorities have urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information that could complicate rescue efforts.
