Bandits Spotted Trekking With Abducted Worshippers Through Bush Paths in Kaduna
Village Head Raises Alarm as Bandits Move Abducted Worshippers Through Forest Routes in Kaduna
Tension remains high in parts of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State following reports that armed bandits have been sighted trekking through bush paths with abducted church worshippers.
According to the traditional leader of Kurmin Wali community, residents and local informants observed the attackers moving on foot with a large group of captives shortly after the mass abduction that occurred during church services earlier in the week.
The village head disclosed that the bandits were seen navigating remote forest routes and bush paths, believed to be an attempt to evade security patrols and relocate the abducted worshippers to deeper hideouts.
Residents reportedly noticed unusual movement along less-used paths connecting nearby villages, prompting community leaders to alert security agencies.
The worshippers were abducted during coordinated attacks on churches in Kurmin Wali, an incident that sparked fear across the community. Women, children, and elderly persons are believed to be among those still held by the armed group.
Some victims reportedly escaped during the initial attack, but many remain in captivity, leaving families anxious and desperate for news.

Security agencies have acknowledged the reports and are said to be intensifying surveillance in surrounding forested areas. Authorities have urged residents to share any useful information that could assist rescue operations, while cautioning against spreading unverified details that may compromise ongoing efforts.
Community leaders have expressed concern over the safety of the abducted worshippers, especially as they are being forced to trek long distances under harsh conditions.
Religious leaders and civil society groups have also called on the government to act swiftly to secure the release of the captives and strengthen security in vulnerable rural communities.
The development highlights the growing security challenges in parts of Kaduna State, where criminal groups continue to exploit difficult terrain and limited access routes to carry out attacks and evade capture.
As search and rescue efforts continue, residents of Kurmin Wali and neighbouring communities remain hopeful for the safe return of all those abducted.
