NDLEA Destroys 4.6 Tonnes of Suspected Cannabis in Edo Forests The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed approximately 4.63 tonnes of suspected cannabis recovered from two plantations in Edo State as part of an intensified operation against the cultivation and trafficking of illicit drugs.  The operation was carried out in the Ugboku/Igbanke forest area of Orhionmwon Local Government Area , where officers discovered the suspected cannabis plantations. According to information released by the NDLEA, officers recovered and destroyed about 4,628.9 kilogrammes of suspected cannabis from the two farms.  The plantations reportedly covered approximately 1.85 hectares of land , illustrating the scale of illicit cultivation taking place in the forest communities. Woman Arrested in Connection with Alleged Murder of Boyfriend in Akwa Ibom A woman identified as Lorretta Anoh has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command over her alleged involvement in the death of her boyfriend, Chikoka Emeka Henry , whose body was discovered inside his residence at Osongama Estate, Uyo . The incident, which has generated widespread public attention, is currently under investigation by the police, who say several pieces of evidence have been recovered as part of their ongoing inquiries. President Tinubu Approves Up to 80% Salary Increase for Nigerian Armed Forces Personnel President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a significant salary increase for members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, with personnel set to receive pay raises ranging from 30% to 80% , depending on their ranks. Two Chinese Nationals Jailed Five Years Each for Illegal Mining in Nigeria The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has convicted and sentenced two Chinese nationals to five years’ imprisonment each for their involvement in illegal mining activities and the unlawful possession of mineral resources intended for export.
