Nigerian Army Retires 18 Senior Officers After 35 Years

Honouring Service: Nigerian Army Retires 18 Senior Officers After 35 Years

After decades of dedication, sacrifice, and service to the nation, the Nigerian Army has officially retired 18 senior officers from active duty. The officers, drawn from the Corps of Supply and Transport, bowed out after completing 35 years of meritorious service, marking the end of long and distinguished military careers.

The retirement was marked with a pulling-out parade; a respected military tradition, held in Benin City. This symbolic event represents; the formal exit from active service, recognition of years of commitment, and a moment of honour and celebration.

Among the 18 officers were; 4 Major Generals, and 14 Brigadier Generals. These are ranks achieved through years of discipline, leadership, and operational experience.

Serving in the military for 35 years is no small feat. It represents, a lifetime of national service, exposure to challenging and high-risk environments, and commitment to protecting the country’s sovereignty. Behind each uniform is a story of sacrifice, not just for the officers, but for their families as well.

Retirement marks not just an end, but a new beginning. These officers now transition into civilian life, carrying with them; leadership experience, strategic knowledge, and a legacy of service. Their contributions remain part of Nigeria’s military history.

In a time where headlines are often dominated by conflict and controversy, moments like this remind us of something important; service deserves recognition, discipline deserves respect, and sacrifice should never be forgotten. As these officers take their final bow in uniform, Nigeria honours their journey.
