Don’t Panic Over Gunshots, Army Reassures Kaduna Residents

The Nigerian Army has issued a public advisory urging residents of Kaduna to remain calm amid anticipated gunshots, clarifying that the sounds will be part of a scheduled military training exercise. The announcement comes in response to growing concerns that such sounds could trigger panic, especially in a region where security alerts are often taken seriously.

According to the Army, the gunfire residents may hear in the coming days is linked to a routine shooting exercise designed to, improve troop combat readiness, enhance weapon handling and accuracy, and maintain operational efficiency.

While there is no immediate threat, the Army has strongly advised residents to take precautionary measures seriously, by staying away from all military training areas, and not attempt to watch or record the exercise. Urging the people to also, avoid unnecessary movement around affected zones, while remain calm but vigilant at all times. And report any suspicious activity outside the exercise.
