Two More Relatives Abducted in Erinmope-Ekiti, Bringing Total Captives to Seven
Kidnappers Seize Two More Relatives of Abducted Women in Erinmope-Ekiti
The ordeal of a family in Moba Local Government Area has deepened as kidnappers reportedly abducted two relatives of five women who were initially kidnapped in the community, bringing the total number of family members in captivity to seven.
The original abduction occurred on January 24, 2026, when gunmen stormed Erinmope-Ekiti, seizing five women, including a nursing mother and a pregnant woman, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release.
According to the family, the latest victims, identified as Soliu Mohammad and Soliu Ibrahim, were taken after they attempted to deliver N10 million to the kidnappers. The reduced ransom followed family negotiations aimed at securing the release of the five women.
The family revealed that the abducted women were initially directed to a location in Orun-Ago, Omu-Aran, before being moved to Idofin in Oke-Ero Local Government Area, Kwara State.
Speaking to reporters, the head of the family, Alhaji Muhammad Saliu Okanlawon (Elebenla), said the family had pooled resources to meet the reduced ransom demand:
He added that the family was shocked and devastated when the two relatives who delivered the money were also seized. According to him, the kidnappers claimed the money was insufficient despite the family’s appeals.
Okanlawon urged government and security agencies to intervene immediately to ensure the safe release of all seven captives, noting the vulnerability of the pregnant woman and the nursing mother among the abducted.
