Hon. Ginger Onwusibe Launches Major Constituency Empowerment Programme in Abia State



In a notable show of grassroots support and commitment to improving livelihoods, Hon. Ginger Obinna Onwusibe, Member of the House of Representatives representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, recently rolled out a large‑scale empowerment initiative aimed at helping residents improve their economic opportunities.


The programme, announced as one of the most ambitious empowerment drives in the area, was carried out in various parts of the constituency and involved the distribution of income‑generating tools and equipment to selected beneficiaries.



According to organisers, the programme focused on supplying individuals and small business owners with productive assets that can help them create jobs and generate income. Items distributed included, Keke NAPEP tricycles for transport or delivery services, motorcycles for personal or commercial use, grinding machines for food processing and milling, sewing machines for tailoring and garment production, generators for power support and washing machines and other appliances to support small enterprises


These items were distributed to residents who had applied through local ward offices and constituency outreach teams.



Many of the recipients were people who had struggled to access capital or tools for their small businesses. By receiving these productive assets, they gained the opportunity to expand their services, create stable income streams, and provide more consistently for their families.


Speaking at the event, some beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Hon. Onwusibe for the support: 

     "This means a lot to us. We now have tools that can help us work everyday, support our families and build a better future."


Another recipient highlighted how a sewing machine would allow her to restart her tailoring business after years of financial hardship.



Hon. Onwusibe’s initiative was designed not only to provide immediate relief but also to reinforce long‑term economic resilience among his constituents. Empowerment programmes such as this are part of a larger effort by some lawmakers to bring tangible development outcomes to their constituencies through targeted interventions.


In addition to physical items, the office also urged beneficiaries to pursue training and business management practices to maximize the impact of their new tools. 

    "Our people are full of talent and potential. My duty is to help remove barriers so that this potential can be realised. When individuals Prosper, communities prosper."


He encouraged beneficiaries to use the tools responsibly, grow their micro‑enterprises, and support others around them.
