Rivers Elders Reject Impeachment Notice Against Governor Fubara

Rivers Elders Condemn Impeachment Move Against Governor Fubara

The Rivers Elders and Leadership Forum has publicly condemned the impeachment notice recently issued against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, describing the move as “disturbingly weak and lacking proper justification.”

In a statement released on Monday, the forum expressed concern over the legality and fairness of the impeachment attempt, stressing that it appears to be driven by personal or factional interests rather than genuine governance concerns.

The elders called on all parties to act responsibly, warning that pursuing such actions without clear grounds could undermine trust in the democratic process and disturb the harmony of the state.

“We urge the lawmakers to reconsider this approach and prioritise the stability and well-being of Rivers State residents,” the statement read.

The forum also highlighted the importance of dialogue and consultation in resolving disagreements, encouraging peaceful and constructive engagement over confrontational measures.

The Rivers Elders and Leadership Forum, which is made up of respected traditional, community, and civic leaders in the state, reiterated their commitment to guiding the state towards harmony and fairness for all citizens.
