Pastor Tells Church Members to Break Down Fence to Tear Down Spiritual Barriers

When the Church Fence Became the New “Wall of Jericho”

Some things in Africa are truly… uniquely African! And nothing shows it better than what happened at a church recently, where a pastor told his congregation to break down the church fence as a symbol of tearing down every “Wall of Jericho” in their lives.

Yes, you read that right. A fence. Not just a wall. A fence.

The pastor passionately declared that any spiritual barrier blocking blessings, promotion, or even that long-awaited car or marriage had to be demolished. And just like that… church members began chipping away at the fence with shovels, sticks, and sheer faith!

It’s incredible how Africans can spiritualize literally everything, from traffic jams to electricity bills, and now, even fences. The moment a pastor speaks, the members follow. No questions asked. Faith becomes action… sometimes a little too literal!

While some were busy “breaking their spiritual barriers,” others couldn’t help but laugh (quietly, of course, because laughing in church is still considered a sin in some quarters). But the pastor insisted: “If Joshua’s army could march around a wall, why can’t we march around a fence?”

The video of the moment is embedded above, and it’s absolutely a mix of faith, determination, and a pinch of hilarious chaos. Watch it to believe it!

Lesson learned: In African churches, faith can move mountains… and sometimes fences too.
