Orji Uzor Kalu Accuses Governor Alex Otti of Repainting Old Roads, Questions Allocations
Orji Uzor Kalu Takes Swipe at Governor Alex Otti Over Abia Road Projects and Federal Allocations
Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has publicly criticized Governor Alex Otti’s administration, accusing it of merely repainting and rebuilding projects initiated during his own tenure rather than embarking on new developments.
Speaking amid rising political tensions in Abia State, Kalu argued that Governor Otti enjoys far larger federal allocations than he did while in office, yet has not delivered what he considers “new work” across the state.
“I Have Not Seen Any New Work”, Kalu Said
According to Senator Kalu, the current governor has benefited from increased revenue inflows within a short period, saying the funds received by Governor Otti in four months allegedly exceed what his own administration received over eight years.
“Governor Alex Otti is just repainting and rebuilding the roads I built. What he has achieved in four months is what I achieved in eight years. I have not seen any new work from him. Because I said I will work for APC, that is why I am receiving insvlts, and it is not acceptable… https://t.co/W8thJGDzC5 pic.twitter.com/dzna2jqsgT

The former governor insisted that many of the ongoing projects being showcased by the current administration were either initiated or completed during his time in office.
Kalu also suggested that the criticism directed at him stems from his decision to actively support the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the backlash as unfair and politically motivated.
“Because I said I will work for APC, that is why I am receiving insults, and it is not acceptable to me”, he added.
His remarks have further intensified political debates in Abia, with supporters of both leaders offering contrasting narratives about development, accountability, and performance.
The statement has sparked strong reactions on social media and within political circles. While some agree with Kalu’s claims and demand clearer evidence of new projects, others argue that rehabilitation, expansion, and quality upgrades are valid forms of development.
As of the time of filing this report, Governor Alex Otti’s administration has not officially responded to the senator’s remarks.
The exchange highlights the growing political rivalry in Abia State as leaders position themselves ahead of future elections. Whether the debate centers on who built what, or how public funds are best utilized, Abians continue to watch closely as governance and political narratives collide.
