Nigerian Troops Destroy Terrorist Camps, Foil Planned Attacks in Borno

Troops Dismantle Terrorist Camps, Prevent Planned Attacks in Borno

Nigerian military forces have recorded another security breakthrough in Borno State, following successful operations that led to the destruction of terrorist hideouts and the disruption of planned attacks by insurgent groups.

The operation, carried out by troops under Operation Hadin Kai, focused on known terrorist corridors and forested areas long used as camps and supply routes by insurgents. Acting on actionable intelligence, the soldiers advanced into the locations, forcing terrorists to flee while dismantling their operational bases.

During the clearance exercise, troops uncovered weapons, ammunition, communication equipment, and logistics materials, all believed to have been prepared for future attacks on civilian communities and military formations. Several structures used as shelters and meeting points were also destroyed to prevent reuse.

Military sources say the operation also thwarted an imminent attack, as insurgents attempted to regroup and resist the advancing troops. The soldiers reportedly repelled the move, maintaining control of the area and preventing any casualties among civilians.

Air surveillance and tactical support played a key role in the mission, helping ground forces track movements and secure escape routes. The coordinated approach allowed troops to dominate the terrain and sustain pressure on fleeing elements.

Security officials describe the operation as part of an ongoing strategy to deny terrorists safe havens, weaken their command structure, and restore confidence among residents affected by years of insecurity.

While military operations continue, authorities have reassured residents of Borno that efforts remain focused on protecting lives, stabilising communities, and ensuring that cleared areas remain under firm control.

The armed forces have also called for continued cooperation from locals, noting that timely information from communities has remained crucial to recent successes.
