Nigeria Customs, NDLEA Seize 30.1kg of Cocaine at Apapa Port in Major Anti-Drug Operation

In a significant anti-drug operation at the Apapa Port, Lagos, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized 30.1 kilograms of cocaine, sending a strong message against drug trafficking in the country.

The seizure took place on January 2, 2026, at the busy Greenview Terminal. Authorities discovered 30 slabs of cocaine hidden aboard the Marshall Islands-flagged vessel MV Aruna, highlighting the sophisticated methods traffickers use to move illicit drugs through Nigerian ports.

The Apapa Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, commended the joint efforts of both agencies, emphasizing that timely intelligence, vigilance, and coordinated enforcement were key in preventing the narcotics from reaching the streets.

The seized cocaine has been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution of all individuals involved. Authorities have also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, reinforcing Nigeria’s zero-tolerance policy toward drug trafficking.

This operation marks a firm start to 2026, signaling that both national and international drug cartels will face strict enforcement measures, and Nigeria remains committed to disrupting the flow of illicit drugs.
