Morocco Reports Senegal to CAF & FIFA Over AFCON 2025 Final Incident

Morocco Reports Senegal to CAF and FIFA After AFCON Final Dispute

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has officially lodged a complaint with CAF and FIFA following disruptions during the AFCON 2025 final in Rabat. The complaint comes after Senegal’s players and officials walked off the pitch in protest over a late penalty decision in favour of Morocco.

According to the Moroccan federation, the walk-off and ensuing confusion interfered with the normal flow of the match, creating tension on the field and among fans. The federation wants CAF and FIFA to investigate the actions of Senegal’s team and determine whether any disciplinary measures are warranted.

During the incident, play was temporarily halted for nearly 20 minutes, with reports of fan unrest adding to the chaos. Despite the disruption, Senegal eventually returned to the pitch, and Morocco won the match 1‑0 in extra time.

CAF has already acknowledged the controversy, describing the behaviour as “unacceptable”, and promised a review of the situation. FIFA President Gianni Infantino also weighed in, emphasizing that respect for referees and officials is essential for the integrity of football competitions.
