Man Caught Stealing Electrical Cables Inside Lekki Store, Points Finger at Alleged Accomplice

A suspected thief was apprehended in Lekki, Lagos, after he was allegedly caught sneaking into an electrical store and stealing electrical cables in the early hours of the day.

According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect was discovered inside the shop while attempting to make away with several electrical cables believed to be worth a substantial amount. His movements reportedly raised suspicion, prompting nearby residents and passersby to intervene before he could escape.

During questioning at the scene, the suspect allegedly confessed to the act and claimed he was not working alone. He stated that he had been sent by an electrician identified simply as John, who he described as the mastermind behind the operation.

The suspect reportedly told those present that his role was to retrieve the cables, while the alleged electrician would later sell or use them for electrical jobs. This claim has not yet been independently verified.

Residents in the area reportedly restrained the suspect and alerted security personnel. Videos and photos from the scene, which later circulated online, showed the man surrounded by locals as he explained his involvement in the theft.

The swift response from the community prevented further loss and possible damage to the store.

Security officials were later notified, and the suspect was handed over for further investigation. Authorities are expected to verify the suspect’s claims, locate the alleged accomplice, and determine whether the incident is part of a larger theft network targeting electrical shops in the area.

As of the time of this report, no official statement has been released regarding the arrest or the identity of the alleged electrician mentioned in the confession.

The incident has renewed concerns among business owners in Lekki over increasing cases of property theft, especially involving valuable materials such as electrical cables, generators, and construction equipment.
