JAMB Requires Remote Monitoring for CBT Centres Ahead of 2026 UTME Registration

JAMB Bars CBT Centres Without Remote Monitoring Ahead of 2026 UTME Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that all Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres must have remote monitoring capabilities for the 2026 UTME registration. The directive aims to curb malpractice, strengthen exam integrity, and ensure a transparent registration process for candidates across the country.

In recent years, malpractice and fraudulent activities have threatened the credibility of UTME examinations. Candidates and parents have raised concerns about:

-Irregularities in registration

-Multiple registrations using the same credentials

-Technical breaches compromising exam security

To address these challenges, JAMB has mandated that all CBT centres must implement remote monitoring systems, allowing the board to supervise registration in real time.

Candidates are let to know that remote monitoring enables JAMB to:

-Track activities at the CBT centres in real time

-Ensure that each candidate registers personally

-Detect and prevent the use of proxy registrants

-Monitor irregular behaviours or technical breaches

CBT centres without this capability will not be allowed to participate in the 2026 UTME registration exercise, a measure intended to guarantee fairness and transparency.

The policy is expected to provide several benefits:

1) Reduced Risk of Malpractice – Candidates will register and sit for the exam in secure environments.

2) Fairness – Every candidate will have an equal opportunity without interference.

3) Accountability – Centres are held responsible for maintaining exam standards.

4) Enhanced Credibility – The UTME registration process is more transparent and reliable.

CBT centres are required to:

-Install remote monitoring equipment approved by JAMB

-Ensure stable internet connectivity for real-time supervision

-Train staff on compliance with JAMB monitoring protocols

-Submit proof of readiness before the 2026 registration window opens

Centres failing to meet these requirements risk suspension or deregistration for the upcoming UTME cycle.

The board has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for malpractice, warning candidates and operators that any violation will attract strict penalties. JAMB emphasized that the new system is designed to safeguard the interests of legitimate candidates and restore confidence in the UTME process.

As the 2026 UTME approaches, students and parents are encouraged to register only at accredited and compliant CBT centres. By enforcing remote monitoring, JAMB aims to make the examination process safer, fairer, and more transparent for all stakeholders.
