Governor Peter Mbah Aligns with APC to Drive Development in Enugu State
Governor Mbah’s Move to APC Aimed at Expanding Opportunities for Enugu — SSG
The Secretary to the Enugu State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, has explained that Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s decision to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC) was motivated by the desire to unlock greater economic and developmental opportunities for Enugu State through closer collaboration with the Federal Government.
Prof. Onyia made the statement while registering as a member of the APC at Orie-Ani Amechi Ward One, Enugu South Local Government Area, during the party’s ongoing statewide electronic membership registration exercise.
According to the SSG, aligning with the ruling party at the centre places Enugu State in a stronger position to access partnerships, federal support, and investment opportunities capable of accelerating growth across key sectors.
He noted that Governor Mbah’s political realignment reflects strategic thinking rather than partisanship, stressing that development remains the core objective.
“Our governor understands the importance of working with the centre, where opportunities are broader. This alignment is about ensuring that Enugu people benefit from national economic and development windows,” Onyia said.
He added that the state’s leadership is committed to supporting the policies and vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the relationship as mutually beneficial for both the state and the federal government.

Addressing the 2027 governorship election, the SSG stated that Governor Mbah’s second term is assured, citing performance and continuity in governance.
“There is no vacancy in the Lion Building. The tradition is clear: a performing governor deserves a second term. Governor Mbah is delivering, and his re-election is non-negotiable,” Onyia declared.
Prof. Onyia credited the governor with significant progress in areas such as security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic management, despite what he described as limited financial resources.
He noted that the state’s economy has experienced measurable growth under the current administration, adding that the governor’s leadership style has inspired confidence among residents.
The SSG urged residents of Enugu State to actively participate in the APC e-registration exercise, encouraging them to mobilise family members and communities.
“If the governor has taken Enugu this far with stability and progress, there is confidence he will deliver even more through this new alignment,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Caleb Onyema Ani, praised Governor Mbah’s work ethic and leadership, describing him as transformative.

He highlighted projects such as Smart Green Schools, primary healthcare centres, road construction, and human capital development as evidence of effective governance within a short time.
Other speakers at the gathering echoed similar sentiments, applauding the governor’s achievements and calling on residents to support the APC registration exercise.
The event was attended by several top government officials, including commissioners, former local government chairmen, members of the State House of Assembly, party leaders, traditional rulers, and political aides.
Observers say the development signals a major political shift in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with implications for party dynamics and governance alignment at both state and federal levels.
