China Condemns U.S. Military Action in Venezuela, Calls for Respect of National Sovereignty

China has openly criticized the United States following its recent military operation in Venezuela, describing the action as a serious violation of international norms and the sovereignty of an independent nation.

The condemnation came after the United States confirmed it had carried out targeted military strikes in Venezuela and announced the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. The operation, which reportedly involved coordinated air and ground forces, marks one of the most dramatic U.S. interventions in Latin America in recent history and has triggered swift global reactions.

In an official response, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed strong opposition to the U.S. action, stating that the use of force against Venezuela undermines the fundamental principles of international law. Beijing emphasized that no country has the right to interfere militarily in the internal affairs of another sovereign state under any pretext.

China stressed that Venezuela’s political future should be determined by its own people through lawful and peaceful means, not through external military pressure. The Chinese government warned that such actions risk escalating regional instability and could have far-reaching consequences for global security.

According to the statement, China urged the United States to immediately halt any further military operations and return to dialogue and diplomatic engagement. Beijing also called on the international community, including the United Nations, to uphold the principles of sovereignty, non-interference, and peaceful conflict resolution.

China’s condemnation aligns with growing concern from several countries that view the U.S. operation as a dangerous precedent. Many governments have raised alarms about the potential impact on Latin American stability, warning that military intervention could deepen political divisions and humanitarian challenges in the region.

While some Venezuelan opposition groups have welcomed the removal of President Maduro, others argue that foreign military involvement risks undermining long-term democratic legitimacy and regional cooperation.

China’s response highlights increasing geopolitical tension between major world powers over the use of military force and the interpretation of international law. Beijing’s stance reinforces its long-standing position against unilateral interventions and reflects its broader call for a multipolar world order governed by international agreements rather than military dominance.

As diplomatic reactions continue to unfold, the situation in Venezuela remains fluid, with global attention now focused on how the United States, China, and international institutions will navigate the aftermath of this unprecedented development.
