Police Nab Two Notorious Bandits in Kwara, Recover Cash, Arms, and Motorcycle


In a major breakthrough for security operations in Nigeria, the Nigeria Police Force has arrested two notorious bandits and kidnapping kingpins responsible for terrorizing communities across Katsina, Zamfara, Niger, and Kwara States.


The arrests were made on Friday, 19th December 2025, when operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID–IRT), in collaboration with the Kwara State Police Command, intercepted the suspects along the Komen–Masallaci axis in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.


The suspects, identified as Abubakar Usman, alias Siddi ‘m’ (26), and Shehu Mohammadu, alias Gide ‘m’ (30), were apprehended in Komen–Masallaci village. Investigations revealed they are members of a notorious gang involved in banditry, kidnapping, and arms supply to criminal elements.


During the operation, the police recovered:



₦500,000 cash (unspent ransom money)
    
2) One brand-new Honda Ace 125 motorcycle valued at ₦1,850,000, purchased with ransom proceeds

3) One AK-47 rifle with 20 live rounds



Abubakar Usman, notably, had recently appeared in a viral video flaunting firearms and large sums of money on social media.


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the operatives for their dedication and professionalism. He reiterated the Force’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks, combating banditry, and ensuring citizens’ safety.


Both suspects are cooperating with investigators to facilitate the arrest of other gang members and the recovery of additional weapons.


The Nigeria Police Force has urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.
