The development has generated mixed reactions among residents of the state. While some people praised the government’s action as a bold step toward tackling ritual crimes, others called for thorough investigations to ensure that innocent traditional practitioners are not wrongly targeted.
Many residents also believe that cultural and spiritual practices should not be confused with criminal activities, urging authorities to carefully distinguish between both.

The fight against ritual-related crimes is important, especially when such practices are believed to contribute to insecurity and fear in communities. However, it is equally important that enforcement actions are fair, transparent, and supported by evidence, so that genuine cultural traditions are not unfairly stigmatized.
The real challenge lies in balancing cultural respect with public safety.
