Security operatives in Kaduna State have arrested two suspected kidnappers following a coordinated operation that involved the cooperation of their former captives.
According to information made available to authorities, the suspects had earlier abducted two married women and held them in captivity. During the period of detention, the victims were reportedly sexually assaulted by their captors.
Sources familiar with the case revealed that the women, acting out of fear and a survival instinct, pretended to cooperate emotionally with the suspects while still in captivity. This tactic later became crucial in helping law enforcement track and apprehend the alleged kidnappers.
After the victims were eventually released, they continued limited communication with the suspects while quietly informing security agencies. With guidance from the police, the women arranged a meeting with the suspects under the guise of a social encounter.
On Tuesday, the suspects reportedly arrived at the agreed meeting location, unaware that law enforcement officers had already secured the area. They were immediately arrested without resistance.
Police authorities have confirmed the arrests and stated that investigations are ongoing. The suspects are expected to face charges related to kidnapping, sexual violence, and other criminal offenses under Nigerian law.
Security experts note that victims of violent crimes sometimes adopt survival strategies during captivity, including compliance or deception, in order to stay alive. Authorities have commended the women for their courage in cooperating with investigators after their release.
The Kaduna State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to tackling kidnapping and sexual violence, urging the public to report suspicious activities and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
Further updates are expected as investigations continue and legal proceedings commence.
