Suspected Internet Fraudster Arrested Over Friend’s Death in Delta State

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 28-year-old suspected internet fraudster, popularly referred to as a Yahoo boy, in connection with the alleged killing of his close friend following a dispute over a $1,000 transaction.

According to police accounts, the incident occurred after a disagreement erupted between the suspect and the deceased over proceeds from an online transaction valued at $1,000. The two were said to be friends and associates before the argument escalated.

Investigators revealed that the disagreement quickly turned violent, leading to a physical confrontation. During the altercation, the victim reportedly sustained fatal injuries.

Following a distress report, police operatives swung into action and arrested the suspect shortly after the incident. The victim was rushed for medical attention but was later confirmed dead.

The suspect is currently in police custody, where he is undergoing interrogation as detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing.

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed that:

Residents of the area expressed shock over the development, describing it as a tragic end to a friendship driven by greed and desperation.

The police have reiterated their warning to youths to stay away from cybercrime and other criminal activities, noting that such lifestyles often end in prison, violence, or death.

They also urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
